Wanda-Gag-final.jpg

In the small town of New Ulm, Minnesota, you'll find an unusual statue. Cast in bronze, a woman sits cross-legged with a sketchbook in her lap and a pencil poised, studying a cat that sits in front of her. The sculpture depicts the famed illustrator Wanda Gag making sketches for her picture book, Millions of Cats. Wanda used her own black and white cat, Snoopy, as a model for the 1928 work.
